A Day in the Life of an Operator at Van Loon in Best

Ever wondered what an Operator at Van Loon Best does throughout the day? Today, we’ll take you through a typical workday of an Operator, from start to finish.

Morning Routine: Ready to Start

The Operator’s workday at Van Loon Best begins with a team meeting. Here, the tasks for the day are discussed, and safety instructions are reviewed. As an Operator, you are responsible for the entire production line, so it’s essential to ensure everyone knows what they need to do. After the meeting, you check the machines and make sure they are correctly set up for the day’s production. This involves setting up and, if necessary, adjusting the machines during the day to meet specific product requirements. You also take care of cleaning the machines, building on the thorough cleaning done by the night shift.

During Production: Monitoring and Controlling

Throughout the day, you closely monitor the production process. An important part of your job is independently resolving minor malfunctions that may occur. This requires technical insight and knowledge of food safety (HACCP) so you can act quickly and effectively without stopping the production line. One of your main tasks is to meet the schedule provided by the production office. This means you keep track of and record production data to ensure everything runs smoothly and meets quality standards. You also ensure the workplace remains tidy and organized, contributing to a safe and efficient work environment.

Breaks and Collaboration: Teamwork with a Smile

During breaks, you have time to relax and chat with colleagues. At Van Loon Best, we work in teams with motivated coworkers who always help each other with a smile. Together, we put our shoulders to the wheel to ensure our customers stay satisfied.

End of the Workday: Finishing Up and Preparing

At the end of the day, you make sure all machines are safely shut down and the workplace is clean and tidy. You report production data and discuss any issues with your supervisor. This helps us improve every day and continue to provide our customers with the highest quality meat products. If a second shift is coming to your production line, you ensure a proper handover to the next Operator.
